The Scarlet Opus team are heading back to the UK Studio after a successful Decor + Design show in Melbourne; Australia. This year’s Trend Hub was bigger than ever before, we showcased 4 exciting design stories set to make an impact in 2019 alongside samples of the latest innovations in material and surface design.
For the FIRST TIME EVER we created a Scarlet Opus Boutique Seminar Theatre at the show where we hosted strong, inspirational Female speakers. The theatre was called ‘She Says’ … it was an informal, relaxing space for visitors to sit down, listen in and join the conversation free of charge. We had some exceptionally creative, motivated and talented women who shared their experiences, expertise and knowledge on a range of different themes. These included; addressing emotional health and wellbeing in the workplace, what success and empowerment means for females and Australia’s first adult disabled model to be in a TV advert talked about universal design. We also had experts discussing how to make the most out of your Linkedin profile, advice on how to combat newsfeed algorithms in social media, and how to approach design with an environmentally conscious mindset; striving to have a zero-waste business.
This was a very successful initiative for women, about women, in what is perhaps a pivotal year for the advancement of women. Huge thank you to all of our amazing speakers; Laurice Temple, Erika Mcinnerney, Kerri Hollingsworth, Angel Dixon, Bonnie Power, Elinor Moshe, Leah Mether – Check out their websites for more information on the pioneering work they do.
Other features on the hub included a designer ‘selfie wall’ where visitors could ‘snap and share’ their images against different backgrounds as well as multiple trend tours of the show happening each day. Victoria also gave an insightful seminar into the key trends for 2019.
Huge thank you to all of our Trend Hub sponsors; Shaw Contract, Octopus Publishing, Denby Pottery, VAU, La Forma, ARKO Furniture, Electric Confetti, Uniqwa, Floorspace, Bec Duff, Mika Barr and Toni Kjeld Ltd.
We had a fantastic time and we hope all the visitors did too, and if you didn’t get chance to attend the show… watch this short video to see some of our highlights…
