Our pick of the Top Ten at TISE 2016

Here is a look at the products that caught our eye this year at TISE 2016. From hard wood flooring to tile, as well as carpet and rugs, we’ve put together a snap shot of the most on-trend products from across the show, many of which were featured on our Trend Tour.

1. Milliken & Company

Milliken are one of those companies that as Trend Forecasters we really love, because like us they are passionate about design trends and they look far and wide for inspiration. Their approach to carpet design is innovative within the industry because it seems there is a genuine desire to create flooring that will answer people’s needs and desires in style terms and they aren’t afraid to break a few rules along the way.

Our favorite product was Cloud Bank which is inspired by the paintings of English artist William Turner.

2. Onyx Tile Distribution

‘Tile by Onyx’ exhibited innovative designs and mixes of materials with unusual and brave use of pattern. Our favorite style in particular were the tiles that replicate a worn and distressed effect against intricate patterning (photo 2nd down).

3. Quick-Step

Quick-Step manufacture innovative laminate floors utilizing their technological developments that make their product incredibly stable, durable and realistic in terms of both graphic design and texture. From their vast range of products on their huge booth we zoned-in on their NEW Tuxedo Pine Planks, part of their Envique collection. This product is a contemporary take on the traditional Shou Sugi Ban technique, basically charred wood. The crackled, charred effect is crisp and detailed and varied, there are areas of small scale crackled detail and then more open areas of deep wood grain texture. The color is a soft black that has a very natural, inviting tone rather than a harsh, cold tone.

4. Hereford Imports

Hereford Imports specialize in importing Tibetan and Indo-Tibetan hand-knotted, hand-loomed, hand-tufted and even hand–stitched custom rugs. The Lana Textiles collection is made from 100% felted wool and includes fantastic oversized, super-chunky knitted looks.

5. IVC US

IVC US specialize in Luxury Vinyl Sheet and Luxury Vinyl Planks & Tile. They are the fastest growing Resilient Flooring company in the world (and they’ve got a super-cute dog as a mascot!). This patterned digitally printed Vinyl flooring fits perfectly with our Belo Rio Trend; a trend inspired by the hand-crafted style, reclaimed materials and spirited scenes of Rio’s street life.

6. Eleganza Tile

Eleganza Tile is a leading brand of ceramic, porcelain and glass tiles. Urban Concrete is a NEW pre-cast concrete tile collection consisting of 2D shapes and 3D tiles. They have a fantastic sculptural quality that will introduce texture into room schemes and deliver unique visual and tactile interest. The individual tiles have a lot of natural variation and random shading, which is characteristic of concrete tiles.

Slimtech Type 32 is also one of our favorite products from the show – it brings modernity and personalization to the parquet flooring look. The idea is based around 2 overlapping layers – 1st the reproduction of a wood plank, and 2nd a graphic stain pattern look.

7. Karastan

We fell in love with Karastan’s Antelope carpet design (a tip from one of the Designer Day delegates on our Trend Tour 😉 thank you!). From the graceful plains where the antelope graze to the fierce jungle where the leopard prowls, Karastan’s Exotics Collection of animal prints captures nature’s true spirit of the wild.

8. Fibreworks®

Fibreworks create stylish rugs and carpet in natural fibres such as sisal, seagrass, jute and wool. This jumbo braided look brings together craft style and luxurious, comforting qualities.

10. Mannington Mills

Mannington have been in business for 100 years – they’ve survived 16 recessions, The Great Depression and 2 World Wars! We loved their Filigree product. As the name suggests it’s reminiscent of ornate metalwork with a vintage floral motif. Even though it’s a floral, it’s a very unisex design – partly because it’s been inspired by an architectural feature and partly because of the metal colorways – Nickel, Brass, Pewter and Iron. It’s a 6 inch tile that looks weathered and timeworn, the pattern fades away in areas giving it an antique feel.
